Founded in London,
1997
Stefan Lopez-Cortezo founded SLC Finishes in 1997 after years immersed in London's finest decorating workshops, learning the traditional crafts that define the very best of British interior decoration. The company was incorporated in 2002 and has since built a reputation for delivering work of the highest possible quality — on time, on budget, and to a standard that consistently exceeds expectation.
Stefan has spent his working life on the most demanding commissions for some of the world's finest interior designers, private clients, architects and heritage bodies. His vision has always been to provide clients with a service that delivers not only the knowledge and expertise expected of the very best specialists, but an unrivalled refined finish right across the board.
Between 2007 and 2022, Stefan was a Director at Angel Interiors, having partly merged the two companies, and during this period won and managed some of the most significant restoration commissions in the country — including some of the country's most significant Grade I listed buildings — overseeing each project from inception through to completion. Throughout that period he continued to operate SLC Finishes as a specialist spray company, producing bespoke lacquered and gilded furniture to the same exacting standard — from our studio and workshop at the Gasworks, Chelsea, where we were based for fifteen years.
Stefan is widely recognised within the industry for his experience and expertise across a broad spectrum of disciplines — from heritage conservation and water gilding to contemporary lacquer and decorative finishes. SLC Finishes works across the Residential, Historic and Commercial sectors, in the UK and abroad, for both Trade and Private Clients.
